A Day At School
Every morning at 6:30 AM, my alarm clock beeps and wakes me up for school.  After brushing my teeth, getting dressed, and eating breakfast, my carpool, a classmate and neighbor of mine, comes to pick me up at around 7:10 AM.  Since I go to a private school that is not close to my house, I carpool with my friend.  That way, my parents do not need to drop me every morning.
At my school, we have seven classes that we refer to as “periods.”  The classes I took last year were Spanish, Chemistry, Precalculus, European History, English, Art, and Religion.  However, I do not have all of these classes in one day.  My school has  an alternating block schedule of “Brown” days and “Gold” days.  On “Brown” days, I have 4 classes, and on “Gold” days, I have the other 3 classes.  On a “Brown” day, I have Spanish first period.  Each period is 1.5 hours long.  At the end of 1.5 hours, the school bell rings and dismisses the students from class.  Then, we are given a 10 minute break to go to our lockers, a storage cubby where we keep all of our books, binders, and other supplies.  After getting my books, I have to walk to my next class, Precalculus.  In America, each teacher is given a classroom, and it is the students who have to walk from classroom to classroom across the campus to go to their classes.
After math, it’s lunch time!  At my school, we have two lunch times; the 9th and 10th graders eat first and the 11th and 12th graders eat afterwards.  Since I was in 10th grade, I had early lunch, meaning that I ate lunch every day at 10:30 AM.  Usually, I bring my lunch from home, but sometimes, I will buy lunch from the school cafeteria which offers a wide selection of main meals, drinks, and desserts.  After getting my lunch, I eat with my friends in the Quad, the center of the school’s campus where all the students gather for lunch.  Following a 40 minute lunch period, I walk to my next class, Religion.  Because I go to a private, Catholic school, I am required to take Religion as a class.  The last period of the day is English, one of my favorite subjects.  In English class, we read renowned American classics, engage in thought provoking discussions, and exercise our writing skills through essays and creative assignments.  The last bell of the day rings at 2:30 PM; then, school is out for the day!  I walk to my locker, put the books I need for the night into my backpack, and head over to meet my friends.  After eating a quick snack and talking to my friends, I will go to the school library to tackle the homework that my teachers have assigned.  Around 5:30 PM, my mom will pick me up from school.  That night, I will finish whatever homework I have left, study for my upcoming events, and finally, catch a good night’s rest for another school day tomorrow.
